The client was launching a football initiative, helping mums to obtain their footaball coaching badges (mums often being the ones taking their children to football practise). McDonald's were providing the financial backing and wanted to film a launch event that included famous premiship players mums. The brief was to take shots of the footballing action and obtain interviews with our famous players mums and professionally qualified mum coaches. We only had a three hour slot with everyone so time was against us. The footage was to be shot and edited for use by the mass media the following day, so tight dealines all around.
Pop provided a five person crew made up of two camera people, a sound recordist, a producer and an editor and on location editing equipment. With the two cameras we were able to have one constantly interviewing our mums and sir Geoff Hurst, in all 14 interviews. This allowed the other camera to obtain footage of children playing football and coverage of the other mass media that turned up on the day.
As each interview was completed we passed the footage on for editing.
All deadlines were met, with the final piece taken to clients offices that afternoon. This allowed them to view all the edited footage and stipulate what they did or did not want. As a result, the piece was aired on GMTV, Setanta Sport and local London News, across the networks.
And what was the cost? Only £3900.00!
